Woke up early to get to work today.. had to assist with the DiGi Seribu Sejam Grand Finale…

What’s it about? Well DiGi has been giving out RM 1K every hour for the past 52 days. On top of that, they’ll ask the customers an extra question and if they answer it correctly, they’ll qualify for the grand finals. Here are some pictures as i go along….

So we had 52 people who made it to the finals. Each of them have already won RM1K each and today, they were fighting to win RM 500K.

So what we did was we hooked up A LOT OF BALLS and certain colored balls had a price to it. The Yellow Ball valued at RM 50, the Gold ball, RM 100 and the Black ball was RM 10K. So participants were showed the value on screen,

Slightly after, they were given a welcoming speech by Loh, Head of Products. He reminded that the questions asked during the competition were all about Malaysia and stressed how this ties back to the 1Malaysia campaign.

When the time came, they lined up all 52 finalist in the arena of BALLS! haha

For those who actually asked if DiGi would really give 10K out, the next picture gives the answer.. Spot the black balls!

Then just before it started, they poured the BALLS into the arena. Imagine all the other COLORED BALLS who had no value. Guess who they represent? haha…

And after 1 minute of BALL PICKING, they stopped the game. Looky Looky! this guy was the big winner, walking home with RM14.5K. I’m sure he’ll be all over the papers tomorrow. In total there were 5 winners who went home with more than 10K.

Unfortunately, i was not one of those winners… sigh… maybe next time…. congratulations Mr. Zainal Abidin. I hope the 15K will be put into good use! good luck and hope to see u again in future DiGi competitions.

So i bet some of you might have been hearing a lot about Project 500 Malaysia? Here’s a slight insight for those who wanna know more.

Project 500 might as well just be the next big internet wave in Malaysia. What’s happening? a Internet Group (identity undisclosed yet) is looking to find 50o of biggest and most influential Internet Junkies in Malaysia. What happens when you sign up and claim to be among that group of 500 people that cannot live without your computers of for that fact, your twitter or facebook.

So what happens after you do sign up for project 500? Well, you wait. This is because out of the thousands applying, they’ll probably choose between 250 to a maximum of 500 people.

These 250 to 500 ppl will then get together and help shape the next big internet secret! so you think you should be part of something like this? Well then you better hurry up to Project 500 and register yourself!

If you and i get chosen, we’ll meet at the end of the tunnel and be a part of this next big wave.. fingers crossed*

those of you who dearly enjoy Peranakan food, i would recommend Nyonya Makko which is located in Taman Melaka Raya. I cant remember the exact landmark but remember it being just beside either New Good World Restaurant or is it Hai Keng Restaurant. Either or.

I am not too much a critic when it comes to nyonya food as i rarely go to the other restaurants. Have always gone to Nyonya Makko and will continue to. Here are some dishes that you may want to taste while you are there.

Kangkung Belacan is a vegetable cooked with local malay Chili which is called Sambal Belacan. It is slightly spicy but at the same time sweet.

Otak-Otak directly translated to English is Brain Brain. Funny but it is actually fish meat cooked in Peranakan ways. Do not misaken it for fish brains? I prefer original steamed otak-otak though the fried one is not too bad

Asam Fried Fish is also a Peranakan marination. It is a sour tasting fried fish.

the Chicken Pongteh is a delicacy that almost everyone tries when eating Nyonya food. Cant really explain the recipe but it is very nice. My mum cooks nicer pongteh with pork. But since all these restaurants are Halal, you’ll have to try the chicken ones.

After finishing your food, do not forget to try the Nyonya Makko famous Cendol Melaka. With its rich Santan (coconut Milk), you will not regret it. This one, trust me!

Hainanese Toast Bread and Half Boil Eggs have become a pretty much commercial food in the past 5 years or so with many types of commercial coffee shops came into place in shopping complexes in the town areas. As Melaka is growing to be quite a city with a good variety of Night Life spots, youth nowadays tend to spend their time till the wee hours of the morning.
For me, If i stay out till about 1AM-2AM, my next destination would be the Bandar Hilir Famous Hainanese Bread Coffee Shop. What better then to have 2 half boil eggs with a set of toasted bread with Kaya and rich Butter fillings? The uniqueness of this shop is its toast bread is served with rich servings of butter and Kaya. Pretty fattening for supper but nevertheless fantastic tasting. Even the eggs are cooked to perfection. Here are some pictures i took the last time i was there.

Beauty aint it? Anyway, the shop is located opposite the new Carefour of Dataran Pahlawan. Its walking distance from the Equitorial Hotel. Worth a try if you are hungry for some good supper….. Its a pretty small shop, but always crowded. If you are keen to explore, i hear their fried noodles are perfect as well. For me it’s so so..but apparently for CHILI lovers, the Sambal is perfecto. Leave you with a picture of the 2 bosses struggling to get people’s order’s in place.

Satay Celup is a homegrown food of Melaka. When visiting Melaka, its a definite must try. Though it is a little spicy, its taste has been recognized by Good Food guides globally.

If you take a walk down the streets of Bukit Cina, look our for the sighboard shown below. You cant miss it as there will be people queuing up all the time. Most of the time, the queue would be the utmost demoralizing factor to eat there. But hey, the longer you wait, trust me, the more you will crave for it in the future. Why? Because it is delicious.

They have also quite good variety to select from. Sometimes people think eating here is quite expensive. However, regulars know that the owner Raymond always contrast the price you pay with good service, and secret servings of Humongous Seafood. Being a VERY VERY VERY regular there and knowing Raymond for some time now, i always get the biggest of prawns, abalones, squids, clams, and at one stage he even gave me a shot of a baby lobster. Interesting? but not so easy to eat a lobster during Satay Celup. Trust me! Being such a friend, Raymond let me peak into his cold storage and so i snapped a picture of the prawns for your viewing pleasure.

Last time i went, he offered me the tiger prawn shown below. This is what happens when you have connections.. hehe sweet eh? The sauce is made of peanuts and some secret recipe of chili.. sweet and little spicy. Not something you can find around the block. If ur lucky, you get more peanuts and more chili.. It makes the sauce more interesting to eat! yum yum!

In short, its a hellufa (short for hell of a) dining experience not to be missed. Enjoy your meal!

Despite his growing popularity throughout the world, Paul Ponnudorai remains humble to his cause, to play music and to make music worth listening to. I’ve known Paul for 4 years now and he has been more than wonderful though our friendship was only bonded through other friendships. Paul is married to his number 1 fan in this world Anne Rodrigues (Anne if u r reading this, i hope i spelled ur name correctly). Although there is much for me to share with you guys about this great musician that i highly look up to, i’ll leave the talking to Time Magazine. Yes you read it right, TIME magazine. I’m quite disapointed that the article branded him as Singapore’s Undiscovered Talent though, as Paul is and always will be truly Malaysian. It’s just sad that playing music in Malaysia does not take you places. =)

Well, Deepavali is just a couple days ago, and if you’re working in DiGi, it means TOMORROW is a HOLIDAY!

Therefore, today would be DiGizens FRIDAY!

And what better time to share some laugh before everyone goes on break. So much has happened lately and all my friends have been stressed out. So many thing’s to go to market with… and this week has just been a little more quiet for some of us but for other’s it’s been a crazy week!

Deepavali Valtukhal!

Well, it’s been a long Q3 for me and DiGi as we a lot of people worked around the clock for many stuff. Thing’s are finally slowing down a bit for me and re-capping at Q3, i think DiGi as a company worked hard to kick ass!

Anyway, had the opportunity to work with some people over the months and had the chance to chat with them.. really nice ppl!

This is Ayu from One In A Million Season 1 and 2… Met here during season 1, she got eliminated around the same time as me.. just 1 day before as the girls did their group elimination before the guys.. very sweet girl.. then she came back and was top 3 if i’m not mistaken for season 2

Dayang too was from One In A Million season 1. Although she was a recording artist before she joined, she was very modest. Nice to see her again.

Then i had a chance to meet a wonderful person.. Misha Omar. Honestly, she’s sooo nice.. a lot of aura on stage, very crowd pleasing and very accomodating. Very good experience… Thanks Misha.

Well, i have the All American Rejects concert coming up end of the month. But until i get busy again, gonna get some rest in Melaka for Deepavali. Thank’s JD for making tomorrow a holiday in DiGi. =) we all need some rest!

The All-American Rejects is set to come back and ROCK KUALA LUMPUR on 31st October at Car Park A, Bukit Jalil National Stadium. If i’m not mistaken Hui Jean’s birthday is on that day and if i’m not mistaken, she won a meet and greet pass with the  band.. wow! what a way to celebrate ur birthday huh? hahahaha congrats Jean.

Anyway, the official statement should be out at digimusic.com.my/live by the end of 7th October and a SMS blast to follow not later then week end.
